11 Sep NECT calls for immediate help from elected officials
Yesterday our owner Scott Riccio spoke with News Center Maine about the state of the industry. While rail, airlines, city transit, and others have received direct support through federal monies earmarked for their survival, the Motorcoach industry continues to be on the outside looking in.
This story ran just hours after another stimulus plan died on the hill in Washington, DC. While we have seen over 88 elected officials sign on to support Maine’s Senator Susan Collins CERTS act, which would provide the industry’s relief, it simply isn’t enough. We need emergency action from Washington. We need those in a position to help, to realize that without their intervention, an industry that this nation counts on may not be there the next time they call. From troop movements to emergency evacuations, traffic reduction to cutting greenhouse gasses, there isn’t another industry that is more essential than the Motorcoach industry that has been fundamentally overlooked during this pandemic.
Fleets around the country, ours included, are sitting idle. We implore our leaders to take a step back from the infighting and partisan politics to help rescue an industry that desperately needs to survive.
