DUTIES:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures for the company.
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations and standards, including those set by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the state of Maine Department of Transportation.
- Conduct employee safety training, including new driver orientation and ongoing training for current drivers.
- Investigate accidents and incidents and prepare detailed reports on findings.
- Report accidents to the NECT insurance carrier.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and other industry stakeholders.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to address safety deficiencies.
- Manage drug and alcohol testing programs for employees.
- Conduct safety audits of company vehicles and facilities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans.
- Represent NECT at various industry safety & risk management events for ongoing education and best practice development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards.
- Monitor and ensure compliance of the Driver Qualification files with Federal regulations.
- Manage drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Maintain fleet registration and insurance records.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Provide safety training for employees.
- Investigate accidents and incidents and prepare reports.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders.
- Conduct safety audits of vehicles and facilities.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least five years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in the transportation industry.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and standards.
- Experience conducting safety training and investigations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, transportation, or a related field a plus.
COMPENSATION:
- Salary range: $65,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience.
